Mystery Movies

Our Mystery Unit was a big success! My mystery readers have learned to recognize what the mystery is and who the crime solver will be. They also enjoyed trying to solve the mystery before the detective! They worked as co-detectives to make predictions and figure out motives and red herrings. I believe some of them love a good mystery as much as I do now! To conclude the unit they used some of their favorite apps and smashed them together into iMovie to create a book review of their favorite mystery. Here are the links!

We're Learning and Growing Inside and Out!

This week was our last week with our 3rd Grade Garden Program. We have enjoyed working with Ms. Vinson and Ms. Davis each week and we are sad to see them go! They have taught us so much about planting, growing and caring for our gardens. We had a very bountiful crop of kale, spinach, broccoli, carrots, lettuce, beets and radishes! On Halloween we harvested our veggies and made delicious salads during our Harvest Celebration. Please enjoy the google slide presentations that the students made about all they learned!

Halloween Fun!

We had some fun creating jack-o-lanterns with this Google Slide activity. Here are some of their cute creations! One of our fantastic Tech Facilitators shared this with us! Thank you Christy!

Readers are Thinkers

This week in Reader's Workshop, we practiced putting ourselves in the character's shoes and we also shared our thoughts and favorite passages with our reading partners. We used PicCollage along with Flipgrid  for this. It worked well and was a perfect way to merge our reading and tech lives!

We Have Flipgrid Fever!

If you step into our classroom during Reader's Workshop while we are sharing our thoughts and ideas about reading, you will catch it too! I am always looking for ways it integrate technology seamlessly throughout the day and Flipgrid is a perfect fit! My students love it and I love seeing them excited about reading! If you would like to share your book thoughts with us and see what we're thinking, let me know and I will share the link with you!

Selfie Bingo Challenge

This summer our staff was challenged to participate in Summer Selfie Bingo. I accepted the challenge and have actually enjoyed it! You can see some of the selfies from our staff  here. They look great, right! Along with posting pics through Twitter, we are also completing a Google Doc Bingo card.

Since we all seem to be having fun with this, I decided to use Google Drawings to make one to try out with my class this year. I will be happy to share the link!
