Technology Integration and My School

The International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) has fourteen criteria that they believe are essential for effective technology integration in a school. Over all, I believe that my school would do pretty well. We have a common vision of where we need to be and how we plan to get there. Our principal makes sure that we have access to the latest technology and we participate in staff development to learn to use it effectively in our classroom instruction. Every classroom has an Activboard, document camera, activslate, and clickers. We have two computer labs and each classroom also has three desktop computers and a lap top. We are very fortunate to have three Pinnacle Leaders (one of them is also our Media Specialist) that provide wonderful support. Our SYSOP is very knowledgeable and goes out of her way to help however and whenever she can, and so do our Tech Facilitators.

This year Beth Glover, one of our 5th grade teachers started a Robotics Team. ROBO Roar won 1st place in the Gaston County Robotics Competition and 1st Place for Robot Performance at the NC Western Regional Robotics Competition! Way to go team!

I guess you can tell that I am proud of my school and how far we have come with technology. We definitely have areas where we need to improve, and integration is one of them. Implementing the Common Core will provide a great opportunity for that!
